Welcome to "TUT Journal Journey"! I’m excited to

share my experiences as a journalism student at Tshwane University of Technology (TUT). My name is Glen and I’m here to give you a peek into my world. Whether you're a prospective student, a fellow TUT attendee, or simply curious about the life of a journalism student, I hope you find my stories insightful and Settling In.

The first semester at TUT has been nothing short of an adventure. I remember the excitement and nervousness of stepping onto campus for the first time, the anticipation of meeting new people, and the thrill of diving into a field I’m passionate about ,even though I always felt like it chose me instaid of me choosing it .

Our orientation week was a whirlwind. We were introduced to the campus layout, met our lecturers, and attended workshops that gave us a taste of what journalism entails. It was overwhelming but exhilarating. I quickly learned that time management and staying organized are key, as the workload can be intense.

The classes have been both challenging and enriching. Courses like Media Law and Photojournalism have broadened my understanding of the field. Each lecturer brings their own unique perspective and expertise, making the learning experience dynamic.

One of my favorite assignments so far was creating a radio story and record it. It pushed me to apply what I’d learned about research, interviewing, and storytelling. I spent hours in the library and conducting interviews, and it was incredibly rewarding to see the final piece come together.

Beyond academics, the social aspect has been equally important. I've met some amazing people, from fellow students to experienced journalists. Joining the campus radio  has been a highlight. It’s given me practical experience and a sense of community.

We also have guest speakers—seasoned journalists who share their stories and offer invaluable advice. These sessions have been inspirational and have reinforced my desire to pursue a career in journalism.Looking back at my first semester ,I am grateful for the friendships I have made ,the skills I have acquired and the growth I have experienced.I am excited to continue my journey in journalism and I look forward to the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.

Of course, the journey hasn’t been without its challenges. Balancing coursework with extracurricula activities, personal life, managing deadlines, and dealing with the occasional bout of homesickness have tested my resilience. However, each challenge has been a learning opportunity, teaching me perseverance and adaptability.

As I look forward to the rest of my time at TUT, I’m eager to continue growing both personally and professionally. The first semester has laid a solid foundation, and I’m excited about the opportunities that lie ahead. From internships to more challenging assignments, I’m ready to embrace whatever comes my way.

Thank you for joining me on this journey. I hope to keep sharing my experiences, challenges, and my victories with you. Stay tuned for more insights into life as a TUT journalism student. Whether you’re aspiring to be a journalist or simply enjoy a good story, there’s a place for you here at "TUT Journal Journey."
